How To See Layers On Design App

In this tutorial we will learn how to use the layers toolbar in Cricut Design Space Mobile app. This will allow us to make changes to select layers within our design. It's extremely helpful when working with a multiple-layer design such as the 3d layered mandala SVG that we'll be using today. We will be able to view each layer and select accordingly.
To begin, create a new project in Cricut Design Space and upload the SVG you'll be using. We have a great tutorial on uploading SVGs in Design Space app if needed.

Step 1 - Open your Layers Panel

Select your image and then click on the layers icon on the bottom of your screen. The layers panel will shortly appear on the right side. Click the small arrow near the design name to access all the layers. For information regarding your image click the circle with the "i" in it.

You will now notice that each layer has its own spot on the layers toolbar. Next to the layer is a word that specifies what type of cut project it is. You will now be able to select each layer separately and only make changes to that specific layer. You change the layer, duplicate it, hide and delete the layer altogether without having to ungroup the design.

Step 2 - Hide and Delete Items

To delete the items within the layers toolbar, select the layers you want to delete. Then click the trash can icon. You will see a blue outline around the selected layer before you click delete.

I dread deleting anything when creating, so I often use the hide icon. The hide icon removes the layers from the canvas screen until you are ready to work with them. This is a great way to keep your canvas organized as well.
To hide the items, select the layers you don't want to work with. Next, click the Eye icon on the bottom. A slash will go through the eye, which indicates that the layer is hidden. When you are ready to work with the layer, select it and click the Eye icon once more.

You can also duplicate objects using the layers toolbar. For example, you can easily replicate the artwork layer by selecting the item and clicking the Duplicate icon.

The Duplicate icon is a great tool to use when creating multiple designs using the same artwork layers.
